Why Are Taylor Swift And Joe Alwyn Still Not Engaged?
They are so gorgeous! Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn have kept their romance relatively private since the beginning of their relationship, but that doesn't mean there aren't many steps to take.
Swift's relationship with the UK native was made public in May 2017. A year later, a source exclusively told Us Weekly that the "Cardigan" singer thinks Alywn is The One.
"She wants to get engaged to him," said the insider. "She just doesn't feel like she has to impress anyone at this point."
A separate source revealed to Us in early 2020 that the lovebirds have "talked about their future and marriage," but they "don't have a deadline in place."
The insider added that Swift "considers Joe one of the only sure constants in her life" and that "he has always been a huge supporter and glued to her."
The Grammy winner has often spoken about her decision to keep her romance a secret.
In a Rolling Stone interview with Paul McCartney published in November 2020, she opened up about the desire to create normality in her relationship.
"I can often, in my anxieties, control how I am as a person and how much I act and rationalize things, but I can't control if there are 20 photographers out in the bushes and what they're doing and if they're following our car and interrupting our lives," she explained.
Swift added, "I think knowing him and being in the relationship that I'm in now, I've definitely made decisions that have made my life feel more like a real life and less like a story for tabloid commentary."
The beloved actor also discussed the private life that the duo has built, telling British Vogue in 2018: "I'm aware that people want to know that side of things. I think we've managed to be very private, and that has now penetrated people.
While the couple's comments about their love are few and far between, Swift took a few moments to rave about her longtime boyfriend.
In her Miss Americana 2020 documentary, she explained that the Boy Erased actor's "wonderful, normal, well-rounded kind of life" is what drew her to him.
