NHL All-Star Game live updates: All-Star Game: Lineups Unveiled

Igor Shesterkin, Jason Robertson and Matty Beniers are among 11 players selected for the first time for the Honda 2023 All-Star Game at FLA Live Arena in Sunrise, Fla. on Feb. 4 (3 p.m. ET; TVAS, ABC, ESPN+, CBC, SN).

Shesterkin (New York Rangers) and forwards Robertson (Dallas Stars) and Beniers (Seattle Kraken) represent three of the 32 players selected by the NHL's field hockey operations department on Thursday. One player was selected from each of the 32 NHL teams.

Goaltenders Linus Ullmark (Boston Bruins) and Logan Thompson (Vegas Golden Knights) will also be making their first All-Star Game appearance, as will forwards Andrei Svechnikov (Carolina Hurricanes), Kevin Hayes (Philadelphia Flyers), Brock Nelson (New York Islanders), Tage Thompson (Buffalo Sabres) and Kevin Fiala (Los Angeles Kings), as well as defenseman Josh Morrissey (Winnipeg Jets).

Forward Matthew Tkachuk will represent the host team, the Florida Panthers, in the Atlantic. This will be the second All-Star Game for Tkachuk, who played in the 2020 edition in a Calgary Flames uniform.

His brother, Brady Tkachuk, will represent the Ottawa Senators. The two will be teammates at the All-Star Game for the first time.

Through a new voting system, the remaining 12 players (two skaters and one goalie per section) will be elected with fan votes for the Honda 2023 All-Star Game presented by Guaranteed Rate, which opens at 9 p.m. Thursday and runs through midnight Jan. 17 (ET).

In previous seasons, captains were elected by fans before NHL field hockey operations selected the rest of the rosters. Fans would then vote for a final player to be included on each team.

For the first time, supporters will be able to vote on Twitter from 12:01 a.m. ET on January 12 until 11:59 p.m. ET on January 14.

Each fan must include the keyword "#NHLAllStarVote" followed by the player's full name, or by entering a player's Twitter username.

Last name only will not count in the voting. All Twitter votes will be combined with online votes. The players chosen by the public will be announced on January 19.

Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin will be participating in the event for the eighth time in his career, a career high among active NHL players.

San Jose Sharks defenseman Erik Karlsson and Blue Jackets forward Johnny Gaudreau will be there for the seventh time. Edmonton Oilers forward Connor McDavid was selected for the sixth consecutive time.

The All-Star Game features a three-game 3-on-3 tournament, featuring teams representing all four sections. Each team will consist of nine skaters and two goaltenders.

The coaches of the teams that have maintained the highest percentage of points in each section as of January 11 - which officially marks the halfway point of the NHL season - will be behind the bench for All-Star Weekend.
